Focus and Scope

International Journal of Public Health dentistry (Int J Public Health Dentistry) is a Bi Annual, English language, online & Print edition journal which accepts for publication, original, unpublished manuscripts in the areas of Public Health & Preventive Dentistry and Medicine.

 

Our aim is to encourage the publication of new information by providing a platform for reporting of recent advances in the field of Public Health & Preventive Dentistry and Medicine.

 

Int J Public Health Dentistry accepts following types of articles:

  • Original Research Articles: Research works done in the field of Public Health & Preventive Dentistry and Medicine
  • Invited Reviews: Reviews from the various topics of general interests in the field of Public Health & Preventive Dentistry and Medicine.
  • Letter to Editors - Brief report of a Survey, results of a pilot study or comments on articles published in Int J Public Health Dentistry
  • Announcements - Information about conferences, meetings, seminars, symposia, courses, and other items

 

All articles are welcome, which:

  • Report new and unknown Development in the field of Public Health & Preventive Dentistry
  • Report unexpected or unusual pandemic / epidemic disease presentations
  • Report Epidemiologic Studies
  • Report new breakthrough in the dental & Medical education
  • Enhance current knowledge about Global Medical awareness among Public & Professionals

 

Research Articles:

Authors are welcome to submit Research articles on topics of current interest.

 

Educational Posters:

Posters are a special section of Int J Public Health Dentistry (IJPHD). Posters are usually accompanied by few selected images which highlight the pertinent findings of the theme. However, some Posters need more visual and vivid representation of study. In the Poster section of Int J Public Health Dentistry the Poster abstract is accompanied by 10-25 images. All these images are provided in-text at the relevant places.

 

Editorial and Peer Review:

The process of editorial review and peer review followed Int J Public Health Dentistry conforms to international standards of peer reviewed scientific journals. All manuscripts submitted to Int J Public Health Dentistry undergo review by a member of the editorial board followed by a double-blind external peer review. Double-blind peer-review, in which, neither the authors nor the reviewers know the identity of each other, allows a fair and unbiased assessment of the manuscript. This enables us to maintain a high standard of the scientific content of the journal. Our review process is fast and "submission to first decision" takes no more than 2-4 weeks, compared to months taken by other journals.

 

As in traditional journals, the articles published in Int J Public Health Dentistry are fully citable. Each article receives a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) which is unique for every article published in the Journal and is used for easier referencing and archiving. All article published in Int J Public Health Dentistry will be indexed in DOAJ, Index Copernicus, Google scholar, NISCAIR, Open-J-Gate, Medline/PubMed and other indexing systems soon. Our application is under process for the same.

Editorials are of a topic, which generate interest to the Dental Public Health Community and of 1,000-1,500 words

Guest Editorial

Guest editorials should be a message from the prominent figures of various specialties to the readers of the journal or on a topic which would create a new awareness to the Dental Public Health community. This is of 1,000-1,500 words.

Research Article

Research articles should be between 2,500 and 3,500 words in length, with no more than six tables or figures and fewer than 30 references (estimated to be a total of 21 or fewer double-space pages).

Invited Review

Invited Review Articles are 2500-3500 in length but with different expectations regarding references and tables, based on the results of the review. Authors are strongly encouraged to discuss review topic with the editor prior to initiating the review submission to ensure that they are carried out in accordance with best practices (e.g., QUORUM guidelines) and their length can be accommodated by the Journal.

Brief Communication

Brief Communications are 1,000-1,500 words, no more than two tables or figures, an abstract of 150 words or less, and 10 or fewer references. Brief Communications, commentaries undergo peer review similar to regular scientific manuscripts.

Peer Review Process

Immediately following the submission all manuscripts are acknowledged by an automated journal submission system. Manuscripts will undergo its initial review by the editorial staff for its contents suitability. Once it meet the journals minimal publication criteria, are sent to at least two outside referees for a blind review.

 

Accepted manuscripts are examined and editorial revisions likely will be made to add clarity to the content and adhere to the IJPHD style. A final proof will be emailed to authors prior to copy editing. After the approval from the authors the final copy will be published. Upon acceptance, papers become the permanent property of the JPHD and may not be reproduced by any means, in whole or in part, without the written consent of the editor.

Reviewer Selection

The Editor assigns the reviewers for each submitted manuscript. The editors encourage the authors to suggest any reviewers for the particular manuscript. Along with the submission process, authors could nominate 1-3 external referees to review their manuscript (in case of suggestion please provide their name and email address).

 

Reviewer Nomination

  • Authors of publications which you used as your reference.
  • Any specialist / academician who had a publication in the area of manuscript content.
  • Avoid Conflicts of interest. 

Follow these criteria to avoid Conflicts of interest

  • Avoid suggesting reviewers from same department / same university
  • Any past association for last 5 years ( As research supervisor/ graduate/postgraduate student)
  • Had collaborated with one of the author in the recent past for any project
  • Any plans to collaborate in the coming future
  • A colleague of one of the author in an academic or non-academic organization in the past 5 years
  • Having a potential conflicts of interest ( Financial/ Personal/organizational)
  • Don’t contact the reviewers in advance regarding this submission.
  • The final decision on reviewer assignment is editor’s discretion.

The Time line for the Manuscript Acceptance

1. 1st Day- Submission by author

2. 1st day-Automated Acknowledgement letter from the system

3. 1st week - Letter from the editorial board to author regarding the suitability of the article to publish in IJPHD. Assign the article to qualified reviewers.

4. 2nd week- Initiation of review process.

5. 4th week- Decision on the article will be taken based on reviewers comments. Email confirmation will be sent on the status of the article.

6. 5th week - Proof reading of prefinal copy confirmed by authors, submission of copyright form followed with upload. 

 

Publication Frequency

Journal items will be published collectively, as part of an issue with its own Table of Contents.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

International Journal of Public Health Dentistry

The International Journal of Public Health Dentistry is focused on the advancement of Preventive and Public Health Dentistry. Journal provides a platform for the specialists in this field to publish their research findings. Two main types of articles are accepted for publication. Original Research Articles that provide a significant addition to the present knowledge in Dental Public Health, including Oral Epidemiology, Dental public Health Services, Public Health Practice and Community Studies. Invited Review Articles that condense the previous research in the discipline and provide guidance to Dental Public Health Practitioners.
